Strobe Cosmetics Review

I'm probably the worst person to do a review, I have had a bundle of Strobe Cosmetics eyeshadows for about four months now and I haven't even review them yet! So here it is, I am going to say right now that I bought these with my own money, these were not given to me as a gift and also this is my own personal opinion. Anyways, before I begin I would like to apologize for the photo quality, using my iPhone until I can work out my camera situation. So, I first found out about Strobe Cosmetics about a year ago and I really fell in love with the way the colors looked on the website. The colors looked vibrant, varying in colors, and above all pigmented. Normally, I don't go by online makeup sites, but I thought I would give them a try! I went to there website and ordered a simple 10 Sample Grab Bag, just to see if I liked them first. Just a forewarning I honestly can't find two of my eyeshadows and one is completely gone. Their eyeshadows are priced at reasonable $10, which is a lot cheaper than the MAC eyeshadows at about $20 dollars. I also really liked the brand, because the owner Chloe Tea was really nice, talkative, and really got back to her customers questions. Now onto the individual reviews. Top swatch primer, bottom swatch plain.

El Dorado, My favorite color! A true golden color with a bit of a shimmer. The color goes on quite smooth, though I have found that with almost all of the that you need a good base or to pack it on in order to get a good quality, color payoff. I do love the colors, but I also found that they don't blend as easily as some of my other shadows. El Dorado also keeps it's bright color for a long time. I wore this with Glen Coco and they lasted through out the night. I really wanted El Dorado and had planned on buying it, when I received this sample I was SO EXCITED!

Reptar, you might remember me mentioning this color in my Kokiri Forest look. This color does blend nicely and the color payoff is quite nice! Strobe calls it a "bright yellow toned green", but I would say it's a lime green with a hint of yellow shimmer. It is really sparkly and even when you blend it the sparkle is still there. I would definitely use this one again, probably one I would buy a full jar in. For an amazing effect, I put it on top of a different medium green and the result is astonishing. Alas, the photo doesn't show how bright the green is sorry.

Fluke, now I really liked Fluke on the site, it makes it look like a vibrant, beautiful dark purple with shimmer. I got it in the little bagging and it was quite opposite. I don't know if maybe I just got a bad one or if it's really the color. This was the hardest to swatch and doesn't really show up as well. "Black with a purple shimmer" and that's exactly what it is minus all the shimmer. I also received another sample that looks almost exactly like Fluke, except it's called Hysteria though they do have differences. Fluke does have a small pink shimmer when it is in the baggie I received, though when I applied it they seem to disappear. Fluke is better on camera, it really shows up better. This wasn't a favorite of mine, but hey that's why I got samples to see what I liked.

Hysteria, so I was on the Strobe Cosmetics website and it looks like I cannot find this eyeshadow. It's pretty much the exact same as Fluke except the shimmer. Hysteria has a pinkie/red shimmer while Fluke has a deep purple and blue shimmer. Hysteria's shimmer, I feel, last longer and definitely is going to be noticed more. Side note the bottom swatch is the one with primer. Alright, so while I do like this one for the pink shimmer it is unfortunately no longer available though I found a replacement if you like it Shape Shifter. A lot better in person, while on camera it doesn't show the full effect.

Sahara, I have never worn this color the whole time I have had it. While in the baggie it looks to be a beautiful orange, I just never knew how to wear it. Easy to apply, amazing color payoff, and shiny! Sahara looks to be an bright orange with a golden undertone and shimmer. It's exactly what it looks like in the photo and definitely described correctly. I really do like this color, I just wish I had an idea of what to wear with it.

Glen Cocoa, I am a huge fan of browns, golds, and neutral colors. Glen Cocoa is pretty much the best color to someone who likes browns as much as me! Just found out that this too has been discontinued, unfortunately since I really did want a full jar of this. My hopes are that soon they come out with another brown. Anyways, I have not found a similar one and they don't have any other browns at this time. I don't think I can express how much I LOVE this color. It's a medium brown with a light golden red shimmer. It's really gorgeous and extremely easy to blend without losing it's color.

Dragon Egg, another discontinued one but I found two exact replicas. Samilicious and Time Bomb. So if you like those colors, just choose one of the ones I linked. Based on the site Samilicious looks to be a closer match, but if you like it and want a shade darker choose Time Bomb. Anyway, Dragon Egg is a wonderful blue with a teal shimmer to it. I love this color and would have to say this and Glen Cocoa are my all time favorites. It's super smooth, doesn't loose shimmer, and gorgeous on it's on or with other colors!

Without swatches I did also receive three other colors. Moonbeam, Cupcake, and the other I cannot remember. Moonbeam, is a extremely shimmer white. I prefer a solid white myself, but it does look pretty as a highlighter or even on the inner corners. I do like it, but I don't think I am sold on the extreme shimmer. Cupcake, a baby doll shimmery pink that lasts all day. I gave this one to my boyfriends mother and she really likes it. I did test it out before, but I forgot to take swatches. It does show up great with or without a primer.

So I really do like Strobe Cosmetics, but I feel like there are mainly Shimmery colors and literally no matte colors which is quite bothersome. I do love a good sparkly color, but I do prefer mattes. I love how the owner is and how she really does talk with everyone, they seem to be a really friendly company. I find the colors a mostly easy to blend, quite colorful and highly pigmented. They ship fairly quick and have a reasonable price, and did I mention they recently came out with nail varnish and lip gloss?! I do want to try them and I hope to in the future. Strobe Cosmetics in my book is a 8.5 OUT OF 10. Minus a point and a half for the lack of matte colors, which really is a big thing. Not everyone loves shimmer and satin finishes. They don't play well if you mostly have mattes. I do like that they're cruelty-free and some of their shadows are vegan, but I hope in the near future there will be some matte finished colors.

THANKS FOR READING! xoxo MAE
